NBA Player Helps S.L.E. Lupus Foundation Give Kids Best Shot at Life Without Lupus
The S.L.E. Lupus Foundation welcomes Dwayne Davis to Camp Sunshine, where he is helping bring hope to kids with lupus and their families. Dwayne’s own family was greatly impacted by lupus; he lost his mom to the disease when he was just 13 and cared for his eight-year old sister and baby brother. Dwayne is here at Camp sharing his basketball skills, but he’s really teaching life skills – to keep going no matter what, to keep pursuing your dreams no matter the obstacles.
Dwayne has overcome many challenges of his own. He is the only person in his family to finish college, and just played in the 2013 NBA Summer League. Now he is off to Spain next week to play in the country’s professional ACB league. How incredibly generous that Dwayne took time this week to visit our kids at Camp Sunshine! He’s an MVP player on the S.L.E. Lupus Foundation team!
